Community Wireless Networking - A chance for Ghana
SIMPA OPEN SUMMITS : 10-DAY WIRELESS TRAINING

oneVillage Foundation-Ghana (OVF-Ghana) in partnership with the University of Education, Winneba; the Commonwealth of Learning, Canada; the Ghana Information Network for knowledge Sharing (GINKS); and Wireless Ghana (WG) are implementing the 10- day Wireless Training as part of a series of emerging technology sessions dubbed the "Simpa Open Summits" (SOS). It will take place at the Winneba Open Digital Village (WODiV) from August 1-10, 2007.


This will be a point of convergence for at least fifty (50) personnel from the IT Community in Ghana and the West African Sub-region. Instructors for this training will be drawn from the University of Zurich-Switzerland; Ghana Telecom University, Accra- Ghana; Delft University of Technology, Netherlands; and the University of Education, Winneba-Ghana. Topics for the 10-day hands-on session will build the capacity of participants by blending topics from the list below.

-Introduction to Wireless Networking
-Setting up and Configuring Wireless Local Area Network (LAN) 
-Building Local routers Introduction of WiFi Devices (USB, PCMC, etc.)
-Installing Open Source Software


ADVANCED
-Open Source on Wireless Technologies 
-Network Securities
-Troubleshooting
-Bandwidth / Internet Link Optimization
-Managing your Network
