Dear Colleagues,

LaGuardia Community College is searching for a full-time staff member
to advance our work with new media, working with one of the most diverse
student populations in the United States. The description this
position, "Assistant Director for the ePortfolio Initiative," is
available at
http://www.lagcc.cuny.edu/employment/division.asp?Current_Division=2.

The search is starting now and will be on-going till we find the right
person. We hope to have someone on board by the beginning of the
summer.

LaGuardia is part of City University of New York and is pleased to
serve an overwhelmingly immigrant and working class population, drawn
from the bustling immigrant communities of Queens. Our student body
(13,000 credit students, 30,000 continuing education students) comes
from 160 different nations, and is significantly female and
overwhelmingly first generation going to college.

As you may know, LaGuardia has done signficant work with many different
aspects of new educational technology. Our ePortfolio initiative is
robust and well-established. With more than 6,000 LaGuardia students
building ePortfolios this year, we*re one of the largest ePortfolio
projects in higher education nationwide. We*re showing outcomes that
range from increased student engagement in learning to improved
retention. Meanwhile, we're helping our students develop themselves as
emerging authors of a digital global culture. For more on the
ePortfolio project, go to: http://www.eportfolio.lagcc.cuny.edu/ For
other LaGuardia projects, see: http://www.lagcc.cuny.edu/ctl/

With all of this in mind, we*re looking for a full-time staff member
who is talented and smart, hardworking and well-organized, and excited
about working in our setting. The position description describes the
specifics of the position, the duties and the qualifications. We need
someone who is both a learner and a leader, an educator and a manager,
someone with technology skills and pedagogical insights, an innovative
problem solver and a collaborator capable of enhancing an
already-dynamic project team.

We'll appreciate any help you can provide in reaching capable
candidates. Please consider ways that you can pass this along to
individuals or lists. If you have advice for what we should do to reach
particular groups or individuals, please don*t hesitate to contact me.

Thanks so much for your help. My best to all,
