This April, Global Kids will conduct a series of engaging online
dialogues about teens and digital media. Students and teachers can
register now at www.FocusOnDigitalMedia.com, and we encourage you to
register soon since space is limited.
As part of the MacArthur Foundation's major initiative on Digital
Media and Learning, these short-term dialogues will support the
inclusion of youth voices into the work of practitioners, researchers
and policy makers that are thinking deeply about the role digital
media is playing in the lives of today's youth.
Groups of 75 teens will be organized into groups that last for three
weeks. They will address content provided by our partner, the
NewsHour EXTRA, the online youth presence of the NewsHour with Jim
Lehrer, as well as content developed by Global Kids youth leaders and
the dialogue participants themselves.
The 200 top participants will receive up to $50 for their
involvement, rewarding those that contribute the most to the
dialogues.
If you're an educator working with teens and technology, as some of
you are, this is a perfect opportunity to have your students engage
in a meta-process about these issues with other young people from
around the world.
We've set up curriculum that educators can use in the classroom, as
well as flyers if you want to promote the dialogues in schools. As
an incentive, 200 of the top contributors to the dialogues can get up
to $50. There is one week left for registration, so be sure to sign
up now!
Check it out at: www.FocusOnDigitalMedia.org, and visit the teachers
lounge, where you can find curriculum and other educator tools.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me off-list at
